DYNAMOS have given the biggest hint that they will take part in the Simba Day activities whose highlight will be a showdown between the hosts, Simba SC, and the Glamour Boys.
The Harare giants are set to use the match, which is set for August 8 at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, as part of their preparations for their return to the CAF Confederation Cup.
The invitation was initially passed to CAPS United but the Green Machine could not get a clearance from the PSL to take on the Tanzanian giants because of a league resolution.
The top-light clubs agreed that only the clubs taking part in the CAF inter-club competitions, Dynamos and Scottland, will be allowed to disrupt the domestic programme with matches against their foreign counterparts.
The PSL’s move was aimed at giving these clubs a chance to use those matches as part of their preparations for the CAF inter-club competitions.
Scottland are set to take on Kaizer Chiefs in the Toyota Cup in South Africa on July 26.
CAPS United president Farai Jere passed the opportunity to Dynamos and the organisers have since confirmed the Glamour Boys as the choice for the big match.
“We are keen to participate in the exhibition match, it amplifies our image as a club and also gives us a platform to weigh our side ahead of the Confederations Cup,” said Dynamos chairman, Vincent Chawonza.
“After bringing in new signings, we need to ensure that our team is in the best shape for the African Safari so this type of competition is key in our preparations.
“The coach will advise us on the way forward.”
This year’s Simba Day celebrations are special as the club will celebrate their 90th anniversary.
Simba SC were founded in 1936 as “The Queens” before being renamed to Sunderland, and then SC Simba in 1971.
In their letter to the Glamour Boys, the organisers said:
“On behalf of Simba Sports Club, KISHAKI Sports Management and Solutions, the Club’s appointed official event management partner has the honor of extending this formal invitation to Dynamos FC to participate in Simba Day 2026,” reads the invite.
“The event is to be held on Saturday, 8 August 2026, at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania.
“Simba Day stands as the foremost annual occasion in the club’s calendar, a celebration that unites supporters, football administrators, commercial partners and members of the press in shared values and heritage that define us.”
Dynamos are the biggest and most football successful club in Zimbabwe.
