ZPC Kariba coach, Rodwell Dhlakama, believes the introduction of striker Wellington Taderera, will boost their fight against relegation.
The 27-year-old has joined the powermen from Ngezi Platinum Stars.
Dhlakama has previously mentored the enterprising forward at Hartley FC and Ngezi.
Taderera struggled for game time after Benjani Mwaruwari was hired as coach and was even de-registered with the PSL.
A possible reunion with Black Rhinos had been on the cards for Taderera, who left the army side at the peak of his career for the Mhondoro team.
Dhlakama insisted the striker still has what it takes to make a difference.
“I’m happy that we now have Taderera.
“He is a top player and considering where we are on the log standings, we need players who can create and score goals.
“We have been playing well, but it’s unfortunate that we haven’t been getting the much-needed results.
“It’s always difficult to strengthen the squad at this moment, almost all the good players are attached to their clubs, but we are going to grind with what we have,” said Dhlakama.
Taderera becomes Dhlakama’s first signing since his arrival at Nyamhunga in early May.
He also confirmed his intentions of bringing in youngsters from the club’s developmental side.
ZPC Kariba are 14th on the table with 22 points from 22 matches.
A home win against Chicken Inn in this weekend’s assignment will be a huge step in moving out of the red zone for Dhlakama’s troops.
The Gamecocks will be seeking to respond from their dreadful 0-3 drubbing by Dynamos in their last outing.
