A Bulawayo man employed as a domestic worker filed a suit at the maintenance court seeking spousal maintenance of $160 per month from his wife, a prison officer who deserted him to allegedly cohabit with a workmate.
Mkhululi Mnyokeni (ABOVE) claimed that from the time his wife Thandazani Mnyokeni abandoned him to allegedly cohabit with her workmate Forbes Vambe who also deserted his wife Nonceba Vambe she failed or neglected to provide reasonable support for him.
In his suit papers filed under case number M730/16 at the Bulawayo Maintenance Court, Mkhululi, employed as a domestic worker, asked the court to compel Thandazani, a prison officer, to provide reasonable support towards his upkeep.
The matter is set to be heard on 21 April.
Mkhululi says he cannot afford to look after himself from his salary and indicated in his summons that the court should order Thandazani to contribute a monthly maintenance of $160 to cover for his groceries, clothing and rent among other expenses.
a�?I am seeking spousal maintenance from the respondent in terms of Maintenance Act (Chapter 5:09) to cover groceries, clothing and rent among other expenses. The respondent is the responsible person legally liable to maintain me and I wish to claim a monthly maintenance of $160,a�? reads part of his submissions.
The applicant apparently resolved to take the legal route after the respondent had failed or neglected to provide reasonable support for him.
Mkhululi further maintained that Thandazani was legally liable to pay the money since she was employed by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS).
a�?The respondent (Thandazani) is a woman of means who is legally liable or should be able to pay $160 per month since she is employed by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) and approximately earns $500 per month,a�? he said.
Meanwhile, last month Mkhululi exposed his wifea��s shenanigans with Forbes after the lattera��s wife had approached the court seeking maintenance claiming her husband deserted her to allegedly cohabit with Thandazani.
a�?It is true that Vambe (Forbes) took my wife and they are staying together at Khami Prison Complex. I am planning to take legal action against him. It is no longer a secret that the two a�� Thandazani and Forbes a�� are now a couple after Forbes introduced Thandazani to his parents as his new wife after they separated with Nonceba. Before she even deserted me I once stumbled upon a string of love messages in her phone which she was sending to Forbes,a�? he said.
However, in separate interviews both Thandazani and Forbes vehemently denied that they were seeing each other.
