Drunk man physically abuses wife in public

She just would not take the risk of having a ride in the drunken master’s car. And for refusing to dice with death, she was bashed by the drunk husband in full view of the public.

Lewis Takawuya Mhlanga (43) of Cowdray Park in Bulawayo assaulted his wife, Rungisa Chengeto on 12 June at about 6.30pm at the corner of Herbert Chitepo St and 10th Avenue where he forced his wife to board his vehicle. Chengeto refused to board her husband’s vehicle because he was drunk and violent.

Mhlanga was infuriated and headbutted his wife once on the forehead and assaulted her once with a fist on the left shoulder and strangled her in public.

Mhlanga appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Franklin Mkhwananzi who convicted him of the charge of physical abuse and sentenced him to three months imprisonment (or $300 fine).
