Prior to the latest development, CAPS United were on the brink of collapse and their well documented financial challenges had become everyday diet for mainstream media as news hounds feasted on the dramatic events that unfolded when players and club leadership were at loggerheads over the former’s unpaid dues.
Phiri had become the easy target of ridicule as disgruntled CAPS United fans in particular and soccer followers in general vented their frustration on the soft spoken football administrators.
For obvious reasons, football followers were rightly questioning Phiri’s wisdom, or lack of it thereof, in holding on even when it was clear that the club was teetering on the brink of collapse.
For a club that has such a rich history and then owned by the Premiership’s chairman of the league’s board of directors, Phiri, the long dragging financial woes at CAPS United were indeed turning into a real bad advert for the domestic top flight league.
We all called for a speedy resolution to the crisis and the solution seems to have been found.
That CAPS United is a big institution in our country, bigger than both Phiri and Jere, gives us the inspiration to raise the red flag when things go wrong at CAPS United.

This is ample evidence that CAPS is an institution of national significance.
As we look into the future, we thank Twine Phiri and Farai Jere for doing the most honourable thing, and that is to join hands and let the team fight on the field of play so that it can be what it should be.
We sincerely hope that the return of Jere marks the end of a forgettable era moving into the future, one hopes to see the emergence of talent that match yesteryear starts such as Silver ‘Bonzo’ Chigwenje, Never Chiku, the late Blessing ‘Yogoyogo’ Makunike among many others that donned the green and white stripes.
