Recently the Cheetahs signed a sponsorship deal with Famous Grouse before their departure for the Sevens World Cup in Moscow, Russia.
The Spar deal comes to an end soon after the World Cup on Sunday and from then, Famous Grouse will take over as the team sponsor for the 2013/14 international season.
However, Spar will remain title sponsors for the annual Zimbabwe International Seven tournament.
Falkenberg feels that committee, led by Donald Mangenje, is doing well.
In 2009, the ZRU introduced a franchise system where fund-raising committees were set up for the national teams.
Led by former Old Hararians Sports Club chairman Bongai Zamchiya, the Sables committee, has been trying to catch up.
“Look at Sevens. The committee has gone and looked for sponsorship. The companies have not come and say ‘rugby, here’s money’,” said Falkenberg.
“If you function like deadwood, you are not going to get money.”
The Sables committee is also having trouble as most of the players have not been turning up for practice sessions.
Some of the Sables are still being owed bonuses and allowances from last year.
