Fatigue, injuries cost us: Pasuwa

DeMbare were looking to brighten a disappointing week following their elimination from the Champions League tournament, by holders Esperance of Tunisia, but found the going tough in a goalless draw.
The point, nonetheless, took them back into second position on the log standings, three behind pace-setters Highlanders who have had a dream start to the season.
Dynamos are now tied with Motor Action on 13 points from six games but they enjoy better goal difference. Pasuwa believes they could have fared better against Shabanie Mine judging by his team’s form in recent weeks but conceded it was not easy at Maglas.
DeMbare had won four games and lost one before their trip to Zvishavane.
“We were not hungry enough,” said Pasuwa.
“We had few chances but we failed to utilise them. Some of the players were showing signs of fatigue, which I think is a result of us playing both the domestic games and the Champions League at the same time.
“It looked like they were not pushing hard but if you put it into perspective, and as much as we had wanted the three points, you would need to feel for these guys.
“We have been travelling a lot in the recent months and, as I have said before, this put the players at the risk of injury.
“For example Denver (Mukamba) tried too hard but you could see he wasn’t up to his usual best and in the end was injured.
“We also have to assess Partson Jaure and Ocean Mushure who got knocks from this match. But Guthrie (Zhokinyi) played well on his return. We would need to manage these players and try to rotate them.”
Pasuwa said Shabanie thrived on long balls which presented DeMbare with problems.
Shabanie Mine have not lost at Maglas in four starts this season and coach Luke Masomere said he was happy with his team’s performance against Dynamos.
The asbestos miners have now drawn twice and won the same number of games at their fortress.
Masomere is happy with the positive start after helping the side survive relegation in a dramatic finale last season.
The asbestos miners have come back a rejuvenated side this year and they moved into fifth place following the stalemate, trailing Dynamos by one point.
“We played a good game although we had problems here and there which I believe are familiar in football. Otherwise, the overall performance of the boys was good.
“We want to keep on working hard and get recognised as one of the big teams in the country.
“Our position on the log speaks volumes about our team. We have proved that we are a good team and we just want to keep on picking up points,” said Masomere.
