A BULAWAYO-based company, Mining Suppliers, is set to bankroll the Zifa Southern Region Five-A-side Soccer League teamsa tournament that will be played atA the Grassroots Soccer Football for Hope Centre in Gwabalanda from 12 to 14 August.

Zifa Southern Region Five-A-side chairman Philani Banda said the three-day tournament would feature eight teams.

a?We are so much grateful to Mining Suppliers and we are also looking forward to getting more partnerships.

The tournament will see Nust, Fox, Amabhubesi, Black Stars, Cash Money, Bulawayo Artists and Street Set taking part,a? said Banda.

He added that the draw of the tournament that would see the participating teams being split into two, would be conducted at Zifa Bulawayo offices on Tuesday.

a?The draw will be done on Tuesday next week at the Bulawayo Zifa offices. We are expecting all the participating clubs toA send their representatives to witness the draw,a? he said.

Despite being founded five years ago, the Southern Region Five-A-side League has failed to run smoothly over the years with the league programme sometimes abandoned half way into a season due to financial constraints and a lack of a proper administration set-up.

The league, however, hopes to have a smooth sailing 2017 season and has begun regularising their operations starting with the Zifa Futsal Level One training course.

The Southern Region Five-A-side league has 10 clubs under its umbrella. Nationally the game is run by the futsal and beach soccerA committee chairman Felton Kamabo.
