FC Wangu Mazodze are making big moves in the ZIFA Eastern Region Division One Soccer League.
They have stepped up their bid to fight to secure elite status for next season by acquiring experienced players.
They have abandoned a Toyota Caravan, which they were using last season, for a 45-seater luxury bus.
Wangu Mazodze are not only fighting for a PSL slot but they are also empowering women.
They have six women in their executive set-up. Gertrude Mazodze, Sokuoluhle Ndlovu, Mary Makombe, are the club’s vice-president, spokesperson and secretary-general.
Yeukai Masvingise, Nolanga Makepe and Tafadzwa Mudzungudzi are also in the club’s leadership.
They made a huge statement last week when they humbled Triangle 3-1 in Chiredzi.
Ndlovu hailed Masvingo residents for supporting their project.

“Our fan base has improved considering where we are coming from.
“We have the support of a lot of people in Masvingo and it’s also amazing that our project now has supporters from outside the country.
“It’s a sign that we are in the right direction and it’s very encouraging to the team’s leadership to invest more into this project,” said Ndlovu.
She added.
“We are trying all the necessary means to keep our fans posted on the developments at the team.
“We are everywhere on social media and we have gone as far as creating WhatsApp groups which we think it’s very affordable to almost everyone.
“Our fans are always coming up with outside-the-box suggestions and it is helping our brand to grow.”
