Fuel tanker driver attacked, loses US$11k

POLICE are investigating a robbery case, which occurred at the 138-km peg along the Harare-Chirundu Road, where the driver of a fuel tanker lost  US$11 000.

In a statement, police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the driver was attacked by four men.

“Four unidentified suspects attacked a fuel tanker driver, and his assistant, before stealing US$11 000 cash. The driver had stopped the tanker to attend to a mechanical fault,” he said. 

Police in Harare are also investigating a robbery case, in which two suspects, armed with an unidentified pistol, pounced at the complainant’s house in Highlands, and stole US$18 222 cash.
