FORMER Caps United coach Gishon “Gizha” Ntini has strayed on the radar of Gweru-based premiership side Chapungu as a possible replacement for John Nyikadzino who has reportedly fallen out of favour.
The airmen are yet to score a goal or record a win going into match day five — having had their matchday four washed away by the rains — and pressure has been mounting on Nyikadzino.
He is now battling to reassure the club executives that he is still the right man to lead them, but the challenge before him this afternoon does not make the task any easier as he is up against a fancied Highlanders side that rarely takes prisoners at home.
Ntini on Friday confirmed that he had been sounded out but nothing of substance has come from the engagement.
“It might be true that they want me. I have received a call from someone representing Chapungu saying there is an offer which he wants to discuss with me, but nothing much has been done so far.
“However, I have one concrete offer before me from a Namibian club that I am considering and will probably make a decision in a week’s time,” said the nomadic coach.
Chapungu chief executive Chris Levie Mukotekwa, however, denied that they are on the market for a new coach.
“That is just mere speculation, which is normal anyway, but to be honest, we are not talking to anybody,” said Mukotekwa.
