UPCOMING gospel artist, Norest “Minister Resty” Mangomba, dreams of going international.
The 30-year-old wants to reach the levels of Franklin Edwards and Minister Michael Mahendere in the next five years.
Like most gospel artists, Minister Resty started off singing in church, where he played the keyboard.
“I used to sing in church with a choral group called Born to Worship.
“Later on, I met Pastor Olinda Marowa, who has been influential in my career.
“She is one of the people who mentored me and shaped my career.
“I recorded my first album in 2018, called Mwari Haatukwe and it consists of nine songs,” said Norest.
He also had collaborations with Psalmist Pritchard Masango and Pastor Maruma.
He recorded another album early this year, titled Anonzwa Munamato, which consists of six songs.
It was recorded at Blaq G studios.
However, Minister Resty said he was facing several challenges in his career.
“I faced financial problems as the studio commitment requires a lot of money for the production of a song.
“Lack of sponsorship is one of the challenges I face.
“In addition, Covid-19 was also a challenge because we could not reach out to people physically so it was also a barrier to my growth.
“I would like to salute Pastor C Chisoma and Overseer Ndou.
“I also want to acknowledge Boss Larry, my manager, and the owner of Blaq G.”
He encouraged fellow upcoming artists to never lose hope as obstacles will always come their way.
