Govt consoles Manungo family

Mr Manungo died on Thursday at West End Hospital. Mr Manungo was born on April 1 1927 in Shurugwi. After completing his education, he worked for Critical Hope, US Embassy and later joined the daily news where he worked together with Cde Cephas Msipa and Cde Nathan Shamuyarira.
Mr Manungo also worked for Dairiboard Bindura and operated many businesses there.
“During the liberation struggle, he was actively involved in nationalist politics, starting in “Zhi” politics where he provided material support to the guerillas in the liberation struggle,” the Ministry said in a statement.
Mr Manungo was arrested and detained at Gonakudzingwa on several occasions. He rose through the ranks, and later appointed a central Committee Member of Zanu-PF in Mashonaland West. Mr Manungo is survived by his wife, six children, over twenty great grand children and four great grand children.
