Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities, Daniel Garwe, said the Government’s vision is to provide modern, sustainable and affordable human settlement for all Zimbabweans.

Addressing the Institute of Architects of Zimbabwe (IAZ) annual conference on Friday, Minister Garwe said the Zimbabwe National Human Settlement Policy (ZNHSP) speaks to the development of a well-planned and well sustainable human settlement.

The conference was held under the theme ‘Urban composition and policy making – lessons for the new city’.

“ZNHSP clearly states that 40 percent of the land is designed for human settlement and must rise buildings. We are trying our level best to provide standard and affordable houses for everyone in the country since it’s a right for everyone to have safe shelter,” he said.

Minister Garwe also said the conference provided an opportunity for people to come together to discuss how to build shelter in an environmentally friendly and professional way.

“This platform gives us an opportunity to share ideas on how to build the best sustainable and affordable houses for Zimbabweans,” he said.
