Gweru police hunt for murder suspect

A Hillside Teachers College student is on the run after allegedly murdering his girlfriend, a student teacher at Guinea Fowl High School in Gweru.

Midlands Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the murder of Ms Keener Tsanana over the weekend.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police are keen to interview one Valentine Tamuka Zivera in connection with the murder of a 21-year-old female teacher who was found lying dead in a room at Guinea Fowl High School,” he said.

Inspector Mahoko said Ms Tsanana’s body was found on Saturday at around 8 pm.

“The now deceased was identified as Keener Tsanana who was a student teacher at Guinea Fowl High School,” he said.

Inspector Mahoko said Mr Simbarashe Dzimba, a security guard at the school, reported the matter to the police.

“Investigations revealed that the now deceased was last seen on Friday in the company of one Valentine Tamuka Zireva, a student at Hillside Teachers College in Bulawayo who was believed to be her boyfriend, entering the school premises,” he said.

Inspector Mahoko said the police also recovered Zireva’s belongings in the room where Ms Tsanana’s body was found.

“Zireva’s whereabouts are currently unknown. We are appealing for information concerning his whereabouts,” he said.
