HARTZElL Primary School pupil Delron Mbambe settled for a bronze medal in the recent National Association for Primary Heads (NASH) competitions, but the youngster is aiming at scooping gold in next year’s contest.

Mbambe did well to snatch third position in the NASH athletics 100m competitions held at Chipadze Stadium in Bindura recently.

The 12-year-old Grade Six pupil participated in the Under-13 age group, but the multi-talented youngster, who is also into volleyball and music, has already started preparing for next year’s contest with the aim of snatching gold in a superior Under-14 category.

“I think the competition was tight in the Under-13 category in which I competed in Bindura, but I did my best and settled for third position. I know I could have done better, but all the same my performance was not that bad.

“I am already preparing for next year’s contest and I am training hard to improve my time.

“I know by the time athletics competitions begin in schools next year I will be in good shape to compete in the U-14s age group,” said the young athlete.
