Haulage truck driver lucky to be alive

A 39-YEAR-OLD Haulage truck driver is lucky to be alive after the vehicle he was driving developed brake failure, veered off the road and landed on its roof in an accident that happened last Thursday at Christmas Pass.The truck, Reg number ACE 3332 which was carrying stock feed from Harare to Mutare belonged to Goosemore Transport.

In an interview, the driver, Boswell Chibanda who escaped

unhurt, said he tried to reduce speed when negotiating the deadly Christmas Pass curves when he realised that the truck had developed a mechanical fault.

“The vehicle’s breaks failed and I tried to control it and make it fall on the passenger’s side. At least the vehicle did not cause other accidents and no one was hurt. I am fine,” said Chibanda.
