PROPHET Walter Magaya is headed for Rusape tomorrow (Saturday) where he will present a mental patient he delivered from the spirit of sanity with a fully furnished house and money to jump-start his new life after years of vagrancy.
Prophet Magaya last week reportedly placed his hand on Garikayi Garanewako’s forehead and ordered the demons to leave – the demons did and the man was healed and fully restored.
People are so glad that this man is healed – with reports from the PHD headquarters, where Garikayi is receiving prayers and counselling – indicating that women were stampeding to catch a glimpse of the ‘the miracle man’ and some expressing an interest to marry him.
Some relatives, who in the past did not want to associate with Garikayi due to his mental derangement, were reportedly queuing to associate themselves with his new found life and wealth.
Garikayi was well known in Rusape and they said this man lived among them in the town, but his own irrational, wild and sometimes violent behaviour convinced them that he was insane or demon possessed. Garikayi, who was taken to PHD service by one Robert Ndlovu, used to roam aimlessly in Rusape’s CBD, Solo’s Bridge and Bus Terminus. He used to spend winter nights at a local supermarket in the CBD.
Some residents are disputing claims that he was violent.
PHD spokesman, Overseer Admire Mango, on Monday, told The Weekender that Garikayi had regained his senses and was responding to conversations with a good command of English.
“Garikayi was prayed for and delivered. He has regained his memory to last episodes of his life when he was still sane and is giving out details of his life as he is still making conversation with the servant of God, Prophet Magaya. He is now normal and is very eloquent in English,” said Overseer Mango.
“The servant of God, Prophet Magaya will be in Rusape on Saturday to get him a lifetime present. He will present him with a house he recently acquired and currently under renovation in the town. Garikayi, like his name suggests, is now a pretty rich man.
God has found him favour. Prophet Magaya said he had a demonic spirit and he exorcised the demons to set him free. You know what, women are flocking our premises, demanding to see and marry him now that the new look Garikayi is dressed in smart design suits and now owns a house. Some people are coming to us claiming to be his close relatives. He has suddenly become a celebrity and everyone wants to associate with him because of his wealth,” said Overseer Mango.
No comment or confession of a miracle could be obtained either from Garikayi or his close relative at the time of going to print. “We will make sure you talk to him, and we hope the relatives will be there as well,” said Overseer Mango, adding that the Bible had numerous examples of people delivered from mental insanity.
One such example is when Jesus demonstrated His authority in the life of Gaderene demoniac (Mark 5).
“Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes. And when He had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind him, not even with chains, because he had often been bound with shackles and chains.
“And the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones. When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him. And he cried out with a loud voice and said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me.”
For He said to him, “Come out of the man, unclean spirit!”Overseer Mango said Garikayi was known for his violent nature and no man could draw close to him without being fought or platted with stones.
“The Servant of God Prophet Magaya under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit walked towards him and laid his anointed hands upon him for his deliverance.
He even went to the extent of hugging him dirty as he was without even worrying about it. Prior to being laid hands upon no one could make a meaningful conversation with him but it is after the anointed touch that he regained sanity.
“This can only be the work of the Holy Spirit that is at work through God’s Servant Prophet Magaya, to God be all the glory,” said Overseer Mango.
