ABRAHAM Kwenda’s life has all been about his beloved Dynamos.
From being a mere fan, he is now Dynamos’ senior bouncer, and is celebrating his 21th anniversary with the Glamour Boys.
It means, the big man has spent half of his life at the club, having joined at the age of 19.
He is also a permanent employee at Dynamos whose contract is believed to be flexible for him to enjoy the luxury of part-time jobs elsewhere.
“As you grow older, you have to be more responsible and accept that there is life after all these misunderstandings,” he told H-Metro.
“Troubles follow Dynamos most of the time and our job is to maintain peace but sometimes you’re forced to do what you have to do to defend your status.
“But, I’m no longer that guy anymore and it has helped me to get more appreciation from the fans and people in the streets,” said Kwenda.
He said some of the club’s leaders, in the past, were responsible for painting him as a rebel.
“As bouncers, we work under instructions, we are instructed to do most of the things that we do and, previously, we had leaders who believed more in thuggish behaviour and we were following the orders.
“And, I believe it ruined my image in a way, but it’s never too late to make your wrongs right.
“I’m very grateful to this new executive for their way of dealing with issues, they treat us like humans, they honour their promises and this is what keeps us motivated.
“They recognise that we have families and that is an environment which every employee deserves,” he said.
Kwenda won Mr Junior Zimbabwe in 2005 and Mr Mufakose three times on the bounce.
He was also assigned to protect top international musicians, Akon, Sean Paul and Luciano when they came into the country.
“I have made a fortune out of this brand (Dynamos), it has created many opportunities for me.
“I get hired by different businessmen for events and it’s all happening because of this club.”
