The Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) Youth League’s inaugural In-Bus Political Interaction Tour, branded ‘Politics Mubhazi’, has set a new benchmark for youth political mobilisation after drawing more than triple its expected attendance on Friday.

Originally designed for 40 participants, the tour ultimately welcomed 130 young Zimbabweans, reflecting a surge in interest for direct political education and engagement with the ruling party’s ideology. The journey, which travelled from Harare to Murehwa, culminated in a landmark visit to the new Parliament of Zimbabwe, where participants sat in the National Assembly and engaged in robust discussions on governance and policy.

Educational Value and Dynamic Format

The tour’s innovative format combined interactive, on-board discussions with institutional visits, creating a vibrant learning environment. Senior Youth League officials, including the National Secretary for Ideology, led comprehensive sessions on ZANU-PF’s principles and governance strategies. Participants were encouraged to ask questions and share their perspectives, fostering a spirit of open dialogue.

Cde Taurai Kandishaya, Deputy Secretary for Commissariat, ZANU-PF Youth League, remarked:

“We are absolutely thrilled with the response to our Politics Mubhazi initiative. The overwhelming participation demonstrates that our young people are hungry for genuine political education and meaningful engagement with party ideology. This programme perfectly embodies President Mnangagwa’s vision of an informed and empowered youth who understand their role in national development.”

The educational sessions, described as the “stable school of ideology,” were particularly well-received, with participants praising the depth and accessibility of the training.

Dr Kudakwashe Tagwirei: Championing the Presidential Vision

A key factor in the tour’s success was the generous support of Dr Kudakwashe Tagwirei, a prominent businessman and founder of Sakunda Holdings. Dr Tagwirei, a staunch supporter of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision, provided all necessary resources for the tour—including luxury buses and comprehensive catering—ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for all attendees.

“Dr Tagwirei’s commitment to President Mnangagwa’s vision of youth empowerment is evident in his continued support for programmes like Politics Mubhazi. His provision of beautiful buses, adequate food supplies, and all necessary resources demonstrates the kind of public-private partnership that makes transformative youth programmes possible. We are grateful for his unwavering support for the President’s initiatives,” Cde Kandishaya added.

Dr Tagwirei’s involvement stresses his broader role as a financier of ZANU-PF initiatives and youth empowerment programmes, aligning closely with the administration’s goals for inclusive national development.

Political Significance and Public Reception

The Politics Mubhazi tour is widely seen as a sophisticated approach to youth mobilisation, blending education, engagement, and institutional access in a format that resonates with young Zimbabweans. The oversubscription of the event signals significant untapped demand for political education and direct engagement with national institutions.

The visit to the new Parliament building was a highlight, offering participants a rare opportunity to witness the workings of national governance and to interact directly with policymakers.

“The openness of President Mnangagwa and his commitment to beautifying Zimbabwe created the conditions for this extraordinary access. Our participants could see democracy in action and understand how their voices can contribute to national discourse. This kind of transparency and engagement is what distinguishes the New Dispensation,” Cde Kandishaya observed.

Looking Ahead: Sustaining Momentum

With the inaugural tour exceeding all expectations, the ZANU-PF Youth League has announced plans to make Politics Mubhazi a regular feature of its youth engagement strategy. Organisers are confident that the programme’s reputation for quality education and institutional access will continue to attract significant participation from Zimbabwe’s youth.

The success of the inaugural Politics Mubhazi tour marks a significant step forward in Zimbabwe’s approach to youth political education and engagement. By combining innovative formats, strong leadership, and robust support from the private sector, ZANU-PF is setting a new standard for inclusive, participatory political development—ensuring that the nation’s youth are not just obse’s future.
