Zimbabwe’s Bonne leaves Maldon & Tiptree

Striker Macauley Bonne has left non-league Maldon & Tiptree just days after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Bonne played for Zimbabwe in all three group games at Afcon in Morocco, including a start against Angola.

He joined Maldon & Tiptree in October, dropping three levels in the English pyramid after playing in the National League for Southend last season.

The 30-year-old scored three goals in nine appearances for The Jammers, who are two points clear at the top of the Isthmian League North Division table.

Former Colchester and Barnet winger Courtney Senior has also left the club, who reached the first round of the FA Cup before losing to Port Vale in November.

Bonne has previously played for Leyton Orient, Charlton Athletic, Ipswich Town, Queens Park Rangers and Gillingham. – BBC
