shows enjoyable because of their variety of music genres, which gives them value for their money.
This also works to the advantage of the artistes themselves, in that such shows promote unity while at the same time saving them from the strain of performing for hours on end without supporting acts.
One of such show is the one pitting Alick Macheso, Leonard Zhakata, Jah Prayzah and Energy Mutodi scheduled for the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex on Saturday. This is probably the first time that the quartet will be sharing the stage and revellers will without doubt be spoilt for choice.
For “Extrabasso”, the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex is home ground, but for Mutodi, this will be his first outing at the venue.
It is an interesting show because all the four musicians have unique music styles.
Macheso is famous for his fast-paced, throbbing and high-staccato kind of music underlined by his powerful bass guitar.
This is complemented by his catchy lyrics and engrossing dances and whenever people listen to his songs like “Tafadzwa”, “Mundikumbuke” and “Mai VaRuby”, they are left yearning for more.
Zhakata on the other hand, has a suave style that appeals to a cross over audience and his lyrics have often been described as touching and powerful.
“Maruva Enyika”, “Mugove” and “Gotwe” are some of the hits Zhakata is expected to play at the show.
The only youthful artiste on the line-up, Jah Prayzah, will without doubt appeal to a cross-section of fans, both young and old, with his infectious gems like “Ngwarira Kuparara” and “Gochi Gochi” among other songs that have made him a household name.
Then there is Mutodi, the flamboyant artiste who reminds many of rhumba artiste, Koffi Olomide, because of his flashy dress code and stage work.
Mutodi will play songs taken off his albums that include “Simbi Yamudhara”.
Those who have watched his video “Chigorodondo” on ZBCTV know what to expect Mutodi and his Mutodi Express outfit.
More of such shows should be encouraged as they offer revellers so much on one ‘platter’.
Chipaz Promotions are organising the show.
