Josta set for CAPS reunion

A CAPS United official has confirmed that Joel “Josta” Ngonzo and Tichaona Chipunza will likely feature for Makepekepe in the weekend showdown against WhaWha.

Ngodzo is expected in the capital today to finalise his deal. Chipunza has already signed for the Green Machine.

He was roped in as a direct replacement for Tatenda Tavengwa after the club’s initial target, Ali Sadiki, joined Simba Bhora on a one-year deal.

Josta endured a horrible campaign in his second stint with Highlanders where he struggled to cement a place in the starting XI.

A loan move to bitter rivals Bulawayo City was in the pipeline, but it appears the 2019 Castle Lager Premiership Soccer Star of the Year has opted for a reunion with the Green Machine family.

“We have done a lot in strengthening our midfield. “Chipunza will play a key role as we try to finish the season in a respectable position.

“Josta is on his way to Harare and he is eager to don the club’s jersey once more.

“If all goes well, he will feature in our weekend game.

“We are now targeting signing, at least, one striker before the transfer window closes,” said the official.

Lloyd Chitembwe’s men are slowly connecting the dots and have now gone for four games without a loss after a horror seven-match losing streak.

Makepekepe settled for a goalless draw against Manica Diamonds, a side which had thumped them 6-2 in the reverse fixture.

They travel to Whawha, a side which they hammered, scoring half-a-dozen goals without a reply, in the first half of the season at the National Sports Stadium.

However, Whawha have transformed Ascot into a valley of nightmares for visiting teams lately, particularly the league’s giants.

Chicken Inn, Ngezi Platinum Stars and Highlanders have all fallen to the league anchors in Gweru. A win for Luke Petros-Jukulile’s men will bring light to their gloomy campaign.
