SELF-PROCLAIMED king of Marabi music, Kireni Zulu, who is coming from a successful musical tour in South Africa has pledged to send his Mutare fans into delirium when he performs at esteemed entertainment joint, Mutare Motoring Club tonight (Friday).

The ever jovial ex-police officer in an interview said he would take the opportunity to sample new songs from his upcoming album, Rabi weMarabi.

The show promises to be a unique and stellar one considering that the Mazai adhimba and Mupata Wachidembo hits-maker last performed in the eastern border city ages ago.

His comic antics and guitar strumming prowess among other likeable traits, remind many of the late actor-cum-musician, Safirio Madzikatire and this has endeared him with a legion fans across the country.

Kireni backed by Marabi Queens last released an album titled Vhura Chivharo in 2011 and his forthcoming album will be his eighth.

“We are coming to Mutare in full force and as a band we are ready to stage a memorable presentation. We are coming from a very successful tour in South Africa where we left people clamouring for more. We will take the opportunity to present songs from our forthcoming album. We are grateful for the support we have been receiving from Zimbabwe and across the region,” said Zulu.

He will be supported by local wheel spinner, DJ Touch and USA-based musician, Peter Mutsemi.

Simply known as Thulani, the talented musician who is riding high with a new video project for the song ‘Bata Musoro’ is currently in Zimbabwe for two-weeks to market his latest album.

The show organisers at Mutare Motoring Club confirmed the shows.

“We continue to bring various musicians from across all genres and we are glad to host an entertainer-par excellence Kireni Zulu. He is one of the experienced musicians in Zimbabwe and we urge patrons to come in numbers and enjoy quality music,” said the club spokesperson, Lovemore Chitima.

This year, the entertainment joint has played host to revered musicians in their respective genres such as Oliver Mtukudzi, Nox, Tocky Vibes, Assegai Crew, I-Finton and Maskiri.
