A 27-YEAR-OLD commuter omnibus driver, Mallon Masora, who allegedly posed as a self-styled prophet, lured and raped a 25-year-old university student at Ranmine Mountain, has appeared before the Bindura Magistrate’s Court facing rape charges.
Prosecutor, Mr Clever Nyapfani, told the court that Masora raped the complainant on November 21 last year, at around 6pm.
It is alleged that sometime in November last year, the complainant boarded a kombi and sat in the front seat.
The accused allegedly asked her if she believed in prophets, and she said she partly did, and he then claimed to have “seen visions” about her life.
The two then exchanged numbers.It is alleged that on November 21, the complainant went to Ranmine after the accused directed her to what he described as his shrine.
Upon arrival, he instructed her to bring fresh milk and a clay bowl, and she complied. The accused reportedly began “prophesying” about her personal life, and the complainant acknowledged some of the statements.
The situation took a frightening turn when he claimed her boyfriend had “installed something in her stomach” during their last sexual encounter and insisted he needed to remove it.
It is alleged that Masora ordered her to lie down and then raped her. The matter came to light after the complainant confided in her sister.
A police report was filed, leading to the accused’s arrest.
