Kritic Igwee back with fifth offering

DANGAMVURA-BASED hip-hop star, Kritic Igwee (real name Kuda Muchinguri) has done it again after recording his fifth single, Mastandards MTown Remix recently. The song was produced by Alexander Matumba of Rehab Entertainment, but was recorded in Mutare at Matt Studios. Kritic also featured two upcoming artistes, DBlock and King Marcus.

Speaking to The Weekender, Kritic said the song was a remix and it talked about setting the bar up higher in life by not copying what other people would be doing. “The track was originally done by P Mula of Harare and was asked to do the Mutare Version, that is why it is called Mastandards MTown remix.

“It is all about setting the bar high in life in everything you do. Set your own standards and not just to follow trends or copy what other people are doing. “You just need to be yourself and not limit your progress,” he said.

Muchinguri has been doing well on the music scene and has performed at various prestigious events such as the Annual Shoko Festival in 2012 and 2013. In 2013 he was nominated for the Zim Hip-Hop awards for the best producer and recommended for the NAMA Awards the same year. He also stands as a hip-hop activist and representative for the Jingaregomo Urban Culture Movement. Up to date he has released five official singles which are currently doing well on the local radio stations.

He said he was already working on collaborations with international artistes. “Currently I am working with some other artistes from outside the country. I am working with Rina a female rapper from Malawi as well as Saewyd Miller from UK. We hope to release something this December,” said Muchinguri.
