Kwekwe DJ in nasty divorce

THE in-laws of a popular Kwekwe DJ are demanding lobola they charged 10 years ago because he wants to dump their daughter.

Lovemore Gwata whose stage name is DJ Lovebyteaï¿½ï¿½s customary marriage to Christine Kazhanje, blessed with a seven-year-old daughter is on the brink of collapse after 10 years allegedly because of his wayward behaviour.

Gwata told Kazhanje to vacate their matrimonial home on the strength that the house was his late parentsaï¿½ï¿½ property.

After that, his in-laws moved in with their demands which they filed in an urgent chamber application in court.

aï¿½?In terms of customary law rights, Gwata was charged lobola inter alia five beasts which to date remains unpaid. In clear breach of the agreement, Gwata failed to pay the five beasts which are equivalent to $2 500 despite lawful demand for no apparent reason,aï¿½? appealed Kazhangeaï¿½ï¿½s uncle Jephias Kufa.

However, Lovebyte, in an opposing affidavit, claimed he was never married to the complainant.

aï¿½?I was never married to her (Kazhanje) as stated, but we were cohabiting and out of that a minor child was sired,aï¿½? said the DJ.

He said their relationship had broken down such that they had not stayed together since August 2014 when he moved out.

The issue is still at the Kwekwe magistrates courts.
