NATIONAL Arts Gallery will today (Friday) play host to this month’s edition of the poetry-music session, popularly known as Shaurai. NGZ regional director (Mutare) Elizabeth Muusha said more than 15 performing and visual artistes from Mutare and Rusape were expected to perform: the likes of local hip-hop star Kritic Igwee.
The session, which was officially launched in April last year, is a platform where visual artistes meet and perform on a Friday of every mid-month.
She paid tribute to several schools in Mutare who have been visiting the gallery in numbers and supporting local talent.
“We are happy that people from around Mutare are starting to support us in promoting and enriching visual arts like photography, painting, traditional dance and sculpture once every month.
“Schools and several stakeholders are forthcoming and we continue to urge others to support local talent.
“We aim towards strengthening our core business in luring people to support visual arts particularly paintings and sculpture. Friday’s event is an ideal platform to lure customers and clients as well as promote the beauty of visual arts,” she said.
