NIGEL Landelan Thole, better known as Macala, is making waves in the music industry. Hailing from the dusty streets of Nkulumane in Bulawayo, he has risen to prominence through his unique musical style.

He discovered his talent after listening to Mlindo’s music, inspiring the stage name “Macala”. His music is Afro pop, amapiano and maskandi.“Mlindo the Vocalist recently posted me on his social media platforms, which has significantly impacted my career as a rising artiste,” he said.

Macala has produced songs such as Inkumbulo, Amacala, Ncedani, and Ngiyakuthanda. He performs with a team of backup amapiano dancers called the UDM, which consists of Lwandile, Musa, Luyanda, Hamilton, and Portia.

Macala’s notable achievements include working with big artistes like Levels from Chillspot, Mr Brown, and local artistes in Bulawayo including Mzoe 7, Thandy Dlana, Mawiza, Copperman, and Butholezwe.
“Working with artistes from Bulawayo has been a game changer,” he said.

“The city’s unique energy and the talent that comes out of it have pushed me to experience and grow as an artiste. The collaborations have added a fresh perspective and a flavour to my sound, and I am forever grateful for the experience.”

Despite facing financial challenges to fund his career, he managed to keep it alive. “I have learnt a lot in this industry that as an artiste you need to be patient, humble, and wait for  the right time. Days are not the same, and timing is everything,” he said.

The future is bright for Macala as he is looking forward to working with other big artistes in the industry. “To all aspiring artistes and dreamers, remember that your time will come, stay  true  to yourself, keep pushing forward and never lose sight of your vision,” said Macala.
