ANDREW MLOTSHWA told a court during trial that he cultivated dagga to smoke and boost his sexual libido.
Mlotshwa appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Challenge Mahembe facing a charge of being found in possession of dagga. He was a self-actor.
“Your worship, I cultivated dagga for medicinal purposes. I smoke dagga to boost my sex drive. When I smoke dagga I become a sex tiger in bed and that has helped in keeping my marriage intact and at peace,” he said.
Mlotshwa also said he cannot be held accountable for three sachets which police said they found him with, but admitted that he had 87 sachets of dagga at his home.

“I do not know where the police officers got the three sachets, they are not mine. I had 87 sachets,” he said.
However, his defence to evade imprisonment was quashed by the state. Mlotshwa was found guilty. He was sentenced to 20 months in jail.
Six months were suspended on condition that for a period of five years the offender does not commit any offence involving unlawful possession of dagga, smoking and cultivation or dealing in dangerous drugs. He will serve 14 months in jail.
The state indicated that dagga is highly addictive and it destroys the user and the society.
Circumstances are that on 17 October police received a tip-off that Mlotshwa was selling dagga. They pounced on him and found him with three sachets and took him to his home. He was found with more dagga which weighed 765 grams.
