A Bulawayo man has been charged with murder after he allegedly severely assaulted his 11-year-old nephew with a rubber hose.
Nhlanhla Moyo (45) of 7944/20 in Sizinda appeared before Bulawayo West Commonage magistrate Mrs Ulukile Ndlovu facing a murder charge as defined in Section 47 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23. Moyo was remanded in custody to 12 July for trial.
It is alleged that on 27 June, Moyo assaulted the 11-year-old boy, Babongile Moyo several times all over the body after he had failed to go to school on that day. The boy sustained bruises on the face, neck, buttocks and abdomen.
Babongile was found dead three days later lying on a carpet and covered in a blanket. A post-mortem is yet to be concluded. Mr Tapiwa Solani appeared for the State.
