MAN PUNCHES MUM OVER SON’S Civvies DAY MONEY

A 41-year-old man bashed his 70-year-old mother after she refused to give his son some money for civvies day at school.

He has now been ordered to perform 280 hours of community service after he was convicted by a court. Munetsi Munemo from Murape Village in Dema was initially sentenced to eight months in prison, with four months suspended on condition that, for the next five years, he will not commit a similar crime.

The remaining four months were committed to community service.
He was found guilty of beating his mother, Shupikai Munemo, after punching her with a fist on the mouth.

It was proved that on Friday, at around 7 am, Munetsi sent his child to get money from his mother for civvies day.

She said she had no money.

Munetsi went on to wake her up while pointing a finger at her.
He punched her on the mouth once.

He told the magistrate:

“I did not have money to give my child so l wanted her to give my child money for civvies day.”

Shupikai said:

“I am his mother, I take care of him but l can not take care of his son whilst he is alive.

“He was pointing a finger at me shouting and l told him to calm down but he did not listen.

“Give him a punishment that is worth the injury he inflicted on me so that he can learn.”(Hmetro)
