Married couple dispute spills into court

A DOMESTIC dispute between a married couple has spilled into court .

The husband claimed his brother-in-law assaulted him following a misunderstanding with his wife over missing cash.

The matter came to light when Tichaona Chikomo opposed Fungai Chima’s peace order application, at the Harare Civil Court.

She accused him of verbal and economic abuse. Tichaona told the court his wife opened the tuckshop safe, in his absence, and took all the money, without his permission.

He said, after confronting his wife, his brother-in-law beat him up and banned him from coming to the tuckshop.

“I don’t know why she is lying but the truth is that Fungai is a greedy person, who always thinks she is the only one with rights in this world. Her brother beat me up after asking her why she opened the safe without informing me.

“I’m actually the one who is being abused over my belongings,” he said.

In response, Fungai argued that her husband insulted her and he forcefully took away her money.

“I don’t complain whenever he takes away my money, without my consent.

“Now he verbally abuses me because my money that was in the safe is missing,” she said.

Presiding magistrate, Sharon Mashavire, granted the peace order in Fungai’s favour.
