A HARARE woman has accused her former husband of sexually, verbally and physically abusing her ever since he got another wife.

Collen Njodzi is being accused of turning the life of his ex-wife, Lydia Mhando, into hell.

The matter came before Harare Civil Court where Njodzi revealed her ex has developed a habit of abusing drugs and beer, which he uses as cover, to torment her.

“He would come home and claim that no peace would prevail and start to beat me up.

“This man also sells and destroys our property, which has affected me as well,” Mhando claimed.

She said her former husband fabricates lies, which tarnish her image.

“He took our bed, curtains and television set to his girlfriend and later on the girlfriend gave me back some of the property, including the television and curtains.

“This man also bars me from going to work yet he is no longer supporting me,” she added.

In his response, Njodzi denied the allegations and begged Mhando to be truthful before the courts.

“I barred her from going to work when she told me she got a job as a bartender, which I did not like.

“She is also lying before the courts that I take drugs, I have not known any drugs from birth.

“She is also fabricating these allegations because I caught her cheating, sending nude pictures to her boyfriend.”

Magistrate Sharon Mashavira postponed the matter to July 18, for the court’s determination.
