THE healthcare delivery system in Mashonaland West Province has received a major boost after getting a mobile clinic, a 27-seater staff bus and an ambulance.

The self-contained mobile clinic, with a theatre, toilet and bath and consultation room among others, is expected to help the province in outreach programmes and provide health access to remote areas.

Handing over the vehicles at Chinhoyi Hospital this morning, Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo said the Government was walking the talk on improving access to health.

“We thank President Mnangagwa for walking the talk in equipping our health facilities,” said Minister Chombo.

“This is a good start to the implementation of the National Development Strategy 2. The President is delivering on his promise to equip rural areas.”

Provincial Medical Director Dr Celestino Dhege said the vehicles would go a long way in ameliorating challenges in accessing health for remote communities such as parts of Nyaminyami, Hurungwe, Sanyati and Zvimba districts.

“This becomes the second mobile clinic in the province, while the ambulance will help Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital,” he said.
