MATABELELAND North Province is set to launch the borehole drilling and housing schemes under the Presidential War Veterans Fund tomorrow. The ceremony will take place at Binga’s Ndatiyoka Shopping Centre, Ward 18, Tinde.

Secretary for War Veterans in the Politburo, Cde Douglas Mahiya, will be the guest of honour. Other speakers include Matabeleland North Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Richard Moyo; Presidential Investment Advisor, Dr Paul Tangwarara; and Minister of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle, Senator Monica Mavhunga.

The fund, officially launched in Harare, aims to empower war veterans economically through interest-free loans that facilitate business start-ups and promote self-sufficiency. A total of US$1,5 million has been allocated to the initiative, with each province receiving US$150 000 as part of the ongoing disbursement process.

This initiative highlights the Government’s commitment to honouring the sacrifices made by war veterans, ex-political prisoners, detainees, restrictees, non-combatant cadres, and war collaborators in the country’s liberation struggle.
