CHINHOYI Mayor, Owen Charuza, says he is lucky to be alive.
He emerged from a horrific road accident near Mapinga along the Harare Chinhoyi highway yesterday morning.
He was on his way to Harare on council business.
His driver, Bramwell Kanda and former mayor, Willie Nyambe, managed to escape with minor injuries and are in a stable condition.
Provincial Police Spokesman, Inspector Ian Kohwera, confirmed the road accident.
“Yes, I can confirm the road traffic accident, but I am yet to get fine details,” said Kohwera.
Mayor Charuza told H-Metro, that he was in pain even though the X-rays showed he did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.
“I am feeling some pain after I was involved in an accident.
“The X-ray done shows that I am okay.
“I’m only having neck pains and the doctor has prescribed me to buy a neck collar for adults, “ said Charuza.
