Victor Maphosa in TETE, Mozambique
MASHONALAND East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Advocate Itayi Ndudzo is in Tete Province, Mozambique, where he is joining the people of that country to in commemorating their 51st Independence anniversary.
Adv Ndudzo and his delegation arrived in Tete yesterday and were welcomed by the Secretary of State for Tete Province, Ms Cristina de Jesus Xavier Mafumo.
Mozambique attained independence from Portugal on June 25, 1975, following a protracted liberation struggle, and annually marks the historic milestone through national celebrations honouring the country’s hard-won freedom and sovereignty.
Today’s event started with a procession at Praca de Indepencia which is a memorial place for Mozambique’s liberation war heroes.
Soon after, the delegation proceeded to the Tete Municipality Pavilion ( Pavilhao do Conselho Municipal de Tete), where a large crowd gathered for the celebrations.
Among the Zimbabwe delegation that accompanied Adv Ndudzo is the Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East, Mr Tavabarira Kutamahufa, Zanu PF deputy chairperson for Mashonaland East, Cde Kudzai Majuru, as well as captains of industry from the province.
Earlier this year, a Mozambican delegation from Tete Province, led by Secretary Mafumo, travelled to Mutoko district in Mashonaland East province, Zimbabwe, for the 46th independence celebrations, where she extended an invitation to Minister Ndudzo to attend Mozambique’s 51st celebrations.
