THE Miss Bulawayo pageant has adopted vintage and winter fashion classics as its theme and dress style for this year’s edition of the show.
The pageant will be held at its traditional home, Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel on 22 June. Bulawayo licence holder, Sarah Mpofu-Sibanda said this year’s theme and style was in line with the season in which the pageant is held.

The Miss Bulawayo pageant would be held under the theme “Wintage Vintage” she said.

“Often, the Miss Bulawayo pageant is held in December but this year we are having it during winter time. We will have to go with the fashion trends that suit the season. We are incorporating vintage and winter fashion classics as well as leopard prints.”

She said models would also showcase their vintage and winter fashion classics during the contest. Scouting for the models was held last week but the veteran modelling instructor is calling upon more aspiring models to come for auditions.

“We had a significant number of girls who came for auditions last week but we are still scouting for more. If there are models out there who want to take part in the Miss Bulawayo pageant, this is the time to come and be part of the event. We have 22 girls who made it during the auditions and they are now undergoing grooming and training from former models,” said Mpofu-Sibanda.

She added that the traditional question and answer segment and the swimwear categories were still part of the pageant as they had proved to be crowd favourites in most beauty pageants.
