AGEING former Buffaloes FC defensive midfielder Tafadzwa Mombeshora (33) has signed a one-year contract with fellow army side Chapungu FC. Chapungu FC team manager Dumisani Mufudze confirmed the latest development and said Mombeshora was one of the players they signed for this season. “I can confirm that we have signed Mombeshora and he is on our list that we submitted to ZIFA.
“We have signed him on a one-year contract,” said Mufudze.
When contacted for comment Mombeshora, who had a good season with Buffaloes, said HE decided to join the Gweru airmen but could not say much as to why he left Buffaloes. “Sorry, I cannot say much about why I left Buffaloes. Some things are better not to be said. All I can say is that I have made more friends than enemies at Buffaloes.
“It is a good team. I will miss my team-mates, supporters and coaching staff. Moses “Bambo” Chunga is a good coach and I have enjoyed working under him.
“Sometimes situations make you move away, but I am happy I got a chance to play for Watungwa Watungwa and I still have some sweet memories from Sakubva and Mutare in general,” said the 33-year-old player.
Mombeshora was born and bred in the sprawling suburb of Rimuka in Kadoma and attended Munyaradzi Primary School before enrolling at Rimuka High 1 for his secondary education. He started playing top-flight football in 2003 at Eiffel Flats. The following year, he moved to Monomotapa and played for two seaons before joining Kwekwe-based outfit Lancashire Steel. He played for two seasons and moved to Motor Action on a one-year contract before packing his bags for Shabanie Mine where he played for three seasons.
He had a good outing for Shabanie Mine under the tutelage of Luke ‘Vahombe’ Masomere and became the club captain. In 2013, he won the BancABC Sup8r player-of-the-tournament award.
He moved to Buffaloes in 2014 where he commanded first team position and played almost every game for the Mutare outfit.
