Movie producers in talent search

LOCAL movie producers and talent scouts, Honde Valley TV, have embarked on talent-scouting in Manicaland in search of exceptional and unique talent in arts. The programme – Zim Greatest Talent – is the brainchild of popular movie producer and scriptwriter, Moses Matanda famed for directing captivating movie “Dead End” which rocked the showbiz and was aired on ZTV last year.

The movie stars gospel musician Fungisai Mashavave as Mary, the Herald Business reporter Conrad Mwanawashe as Joseph Mambo and Boniface Chimedza as Rafael.

In an interview, Matanda said they were searching for exceptional talent in music, dancing, poetry, sculpturing, weaving and painting among other arts. He said the programme was aimed at identifying and nurturing talent among youths and the elderly.

“This is actually a nationwide programme and for the mean time we will be searching for talent in Mutare. Outstanding talented individuals will be accorded a chance to fly to Toronto in Canada and learn more about innovative projects as well as market their talents. We will also support them financially and help them nurture their dream through exposure on national television. Artistes, for example, will be financially assisted to record their videos and songs,” he said.

Honde Valley TV team comprises Kudakwashe Jena, Dairai Mutseyekwa and Tendaishe Mutseyekwa.

“We have witnessed amazing talent in Harare, Mutoko, Murehwa and Nyazura. We will travel to different districts in Manicaland scouting for people who fit into the phase one of our search in the exceptional sculptors,” added the 40-year-old veteran producer.

Matanda, who was born in Honde Valley, will end of this year officially unveil a new movie and potential blockbuster titled Chinhoyi 7 which honours liberation war heroes and heroines for their sacrifice.

The two-hour-long film chronicles the famous battle of Chinhoyi that ignited the Second Chimurenga in 1966. The film was shot using latest technology at different sites of the country to portray different events of the war that include Domboshava, Victoria Falls, Mutarazi Falls and other tourist destinations. The movie was shot by state-of-the-art Red Dragon cameras which offer the best image in film production.
