Mukanga joins newcomers Ngezi Platinum

FORMER Dynamos midfielder, Walter Mukanga has signed for premiership newcomers Ngezi Platinum where he had been assessed in the past week. Mukanga will be reunited with his former coach Tonderayi Ndiraya who was unveiled as the platinum miners’ new boss three weeks ago. Mukanga together with Kelvin Bulaji and Takudzwa Chimwemwe have been training with Ngezi Platinum and featured in the club’s friendly against players who are out of contract which was organised by the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe (Fuz).

Ndiraya confirmed the capture of Mukanga but did not divulge the terms of the contract. The Ngezi Platium gaffer said the technical team is still assessing the duo of Bulaji and Chimwemwe.

“It is true that the three players were here on trials but we have finalised terms with Walter Mukanga and he has signed for us so he is now officially a Ngezi Platinum player. We are still assessing Bulaji and Chimwemwe and if they impress we will rope them in,” he said.

Mukanga is likely to make his debut for the platinum miners in today’s league encounter when they play host to ZPC Kariba at Baobab Stadium. Since taking over the reins at the Platinum miners, Ndiraya declared that he was going to plunge onto the market to beef up the team which he termed lightweight.

Despite bringing in the likes of James Marufu, former Dynamos trio of Zivanai Mhanda, Washington Pakamisa and Tichaona Mamvura, Liberty Chakoroma who was discarded by Free State Stars, Blessing Mwandimutsira, Ngezi Platinum has failed to find rhythm in the premiership.

The team was inconsistent under Clifton Kadurira forcing the executive to turn on to Ndiraya for salvation.

Ndiraya has not disappointed so far, getting two consecutive wins in his first two matches.

The club has also roped in goalkeeper Chris Mverechena on loan from Caps United.
