The 18-team Mutare pool league ended last weekend with Munongedzo Club clinching the title nine points clear.

Last weekend’s games were just complementary to Munongedzo Club from the high-density suburb of Sakubva since they had already won the title. Tops Club, Zhakshirak and Chikanga Club came second, third and fourth respectively.

Hanzu, Fantasy, Megastars and Moto Moto were promoted to the premiership division at the expense of Curve-Lake, Drive-In, Musika and Afripot, who were the bottom four of the premiership league.

Mutare Pool league vice chairperson Mr Taurai Makanidzana said that this Saturday (tomorrow) there will be awards to honour the efforts of the teams and individuals that did well during the season.

“Tomorrow (December 13) there is going to be the end of season awards at Fantasy Pool club that is at Simrac supermarket, where TNT was located in the upper flow.

“The awards are going to take place under the sponsorship of Mutare pool league since it has a bank account which was receiving funds from sponsors and other fees that the teams and individual players would pay. Each team will get something during the awards and the best player will be crowned as well. The prizes that are to be won are yet to be confirmed,” he said.

He added: “On December 18, there will be the annual general meeting to elect the new executive.

“The current one exceeded its provisioned time, which is two years. The current one did three years. Each team is supposed to bring three members only for the elections and at the same day new teams that wish to join are also invited. It will be held at Royal construction at 6 pm,” said Mr Makanidzana.
