CAPS United owner Farai Jere says coach Takesure Chiragwi is a GENIUS and he has his full support.
Jere’s backing comes after Chiragwi finally ended a difficult spell by guiding the Green Machine to only his second victory in the last 10 league matches.
The 2-0 win over Manica Diamonds helped ease the pressure which had been mounting after a poor run of results.
“We have a genius of a coach in Takesure Chiragwi. We need to protect him. We need to give him everything. He’s a genius,” he said.
“Takesure Chiragwi is on a five-year contract with me. He is not only here for this season.
“We are hoping that within those five years we will achieve good results and win quite a number of championships and trophies.”
Chiragwi has transformed the club’s ambitions from merely chasing a top-four finish to mounting a title challenge.
“To be very honest, we are very happy with coach Takesure Chiragwi,” said Jere.
“I know the coach is now under pressure because of the expectations which he actually developed himself within the CAPS United family.
“Otherwise, for this year, our target was a top-four finish. His contract speaks to that.
“But we are now gunning for the league championship because of the calibre of the coach we have.”
Jere said Chiragwi’s impressive start to the campaign, during which CAPS United spent almost 10 weeks at the top of the league standings, demonstrated his coaching ability before off-field distractions disrupted the team’s momentum.
“The way he started his business, he was on top of the log for almost 10 weeks before he discovered what you saw in the papers, which made a lot of noise.
“Otherwise, he could still be sitting on top of the log.
“We are now going past that.
“We are now focusing on where we are and what we need to do to improve the team, which we have already addressed.
“We are happy with what we have. The players are gelling,” said Jere.
