A NATIONAL platform recognising outstanding healthcare professionals and institutions is set to be held in Harare in November, with nominations now open for doctors, nurses, pharmacists, specialists and medical institutions.
The National Medical Exhibition Fraternity and Awards, scheduled for November 7 at Rainbow Towers Hotel, will combine a medical exhibition with an awards dinner aimed at showcasing innovation, professional excellence and contributions to Zimbabwe’s health sector.
“This is an opportunity to bring the medical fraternity together and give recognition to those who have dedicated their lives to saving lives and building a healthier Zimbabwe,” awards secretary Edgar Sundai said.
He added that the exhibition, running from 3pm to 6pm, would provide participating healthcare professionals, hospitals, clinics and other medical institutions with a platform to showcase their work, practices and innovations.
“The awards dinner will follow from 6.30pm, with exhibitors expected to receive National Medical Awards in recognition of their contribution to the health sector,” he said.
Organisers said members of the public were being encouraged to nominate healthcare workers or institutions they believe deserve recognition.
“Nominations should include the name of the individual or institution and reasons for the nomination,” he said.
The organisers said their research team would also visit medical institutions as part of the nomination and selection process.
The initiative is aimed at creating a national platform to celebrate healthcare workers and highlight their contribution to the country’s wellbeing.
Organisers said the event would also create an opportunity for different players in the medical sector to interact, share experiences and showcase developments in healthcare.
“The awards are expected to bring together doctors, nurses, pharmacists, specialists and representatives of medical institutions from across the country,” he said.
