NEW: 4 candidates eye Chipinge Ward 16

FOUR candidates are vying for the Chipinge Rural District Council’s Ward 16 seat which fell vacant following the recalling of its councillor by the MDC Alliance.

 

A by-election for the ward has been set for July 23.

 

The former ward councillor, Alderman Rapheus Sithole who was representing it on an MDC Alliance ticket was recalled by the party for crossing the floor to join the Citizens Coalition for Change.

 

The four candidates eyeing the seat are Cde Gladys Muposhi (ZANU PF), Alderman Sithole (Citizens Coalition for Change), National Constitutional Assembly (NCA)’s Mr Remeredzai Marian Ziki and Mr Zachariah Sigauke of Patriotic Zimbabwe.

 

Ward 16 is in Chipinge West and covers areas such as Maronga, Kondo, Sakuinje, Mwacheta and parts of Middle Sabi estates.
