BUDDING afro-jazz artiste Gamuchirai Mutamba (popularly known as Gamue The Heir) has ventured into acting.
The musician is set to feature in a short film titled “Zuvarashe”.
The 22-year-old told The Sunday Mail Online that she decided to try out acting after failing to attract convincing support from music fans.
“The industry is male-dominated. It takes time for us to be recognised despite our hard work,” she said.
“I am pushing hard to become successful in music since it is my passion. However, my major setback has been lack of funds.”
She also bemoaned sexual abuse in the music industry.
“We have perverts in the arts industry, particularly in music. The predators come disguised as sponsors or promoters, yet they have hidden motives.
“They make you believe and you subsequently become their prey.
“I wish I could get a manager and genuine promoter or sponsor so that things could happen for me,” said Mutamba.
The young artiste has an extended play record (EP) of four songs – “Hatina Zororo”, “Chishuwo”, “Chikomana Cheguruve” and “Weminana”.
Other tracks include “Wakandivimbisa”, “Sango Rinopa Waneta”, “I do”, “Ari Kupi”, “Nzira”, “Tirambe” and a cover version of “Mavanga” (song originally done by Mbeu).
She also does conceptual photography.
