NEW: Epileptic patient drowns in Odzi River

A 29-YEAR-OLD epileptic patient who had been left unattended drowned in Chisambamahure River in Odzi yesterday.

The body of John Chisime was found floating in the river by a cattle herder, Decide Chipeni, who was on his way to a nearby bush.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Norbert Muzondo confirmed the incident which happened in Village 10 in Nyamajura.

“He was last seen by his uncle, only identified as Munyaradzi, who left him and proceeded to a garden near the river. Chisipani who was herding cattle saw the deceased’s body floating and alerted other villagers who rushed to the scene.

 

“The villagers alerted the police who attended the scene and conveyed the body to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital mortuary,” said Inspector Muzondo.

Inspector Muzondo urged parents and guardians living with epileptic people to always be on the guard and desist from leaving them unattended.
