NYANGA Rural District Council has procured motorbikes for its 31 councillors in a move aimed at enhancing their mobility during execution of their duties.

Council chairperson, Councillor Margaret Nyahoda said the local authority is committed to continue improving service delivery in tandem with the Second Republic’s development thrust of leaving no one and no place behind.

She said the motorbikes have already been handed over to the councillors.

“As Nyanga Rural District Council, we are following the recommendations made by Local Government and Public Works Minister, Dr July Moyo, that local authorities assist their councillors to procure motorbikes to ease mobility challenges when they are carrying out their duties. Councillors are required to pay up the loans before the expiry of their terms of office.

“We have managed to procure the motorbikes for all our 31 councillors and this is helping them to reach some remote areas in their wards which were previously inaccessible. The villagers have also welcomed this development,” said Cllr Nyahoda.

Cllr Nyahoda said they have drawn up and are implementing several development programmes to change the face of the district.
