NEW: Tobacco sales generate US$168m

TOBACCO sales have so far generated US$168 million, latest figures from the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) show.

A total 56 million kg of the golden leaf were sold at an average of US$2,94 per kg by Monday this week.

Auction floors have taken delivery of 5,6 million kg, while contractors account for 50,71 million kg.

The highest price achieved to date is US$6,10 per kg, while the lowest price is US$0,10.
